"STAR-BRACU Short Film Contest 2018" powered by Rexona this was one of the biggest event of BRAC University till this date. The event started at 5 PM, in Star Cineplex at Bashundhara City Complex. Reputed as one of the biggest clubs of BRACU University, BRAC University Film Club was the proud Event Partner of the event. Film makers from Eleven Reputed universities participated in the event. The theme of this year’s event was short film about “Drug Abuse &It’s Prevention in the context of Bangladesh". All the short films were screened on the silver screen of Star Cineplex and top 3 were chosen by the Judges to be the best of the bests.
At the start of the program, the respective judges Ms. Shubarna Mustafa, Ms. Afsana Mimi and Mr. Giyasuddin Selim delivered their inspirational speeches, followed by the speeches of the advisor of BUFC, Mr. Adnan M.S. Fakir & the chairman of Star Cineplex. The last year’s winners also got the floor to speak to share their experience. Then came in the screening session and nineteen best films were screened in the biggest hall of Star Cineplex in front of the film enthusiasts from all over the city. Finally, the results were declared by Ms.Afsana Mimi. The 1stposition was taken by the film named “Tomosha” which was directed by Dip Roy a student from North South University and they got 50000/- BDT and lots of gift from other event partners. Consequently, the 2nd position was taken by two short films named “Cage” directed by TahmidRaqeebAtul a student from IUB and “The Murderer” directed by Tanjeel Sultan Khan Turja a student from AIUB and they got 30000/- BDT. Lastly from our very own BRAC University, Syed Shafquat Hossain Ghalib, the director of the film named “ShongbidhibodhhoShotorkikoron” placed 3rd in position and they got 20000/- BDT as reward, which was indeed a very proud moment for BRAC University and all the members of BRAC University Film Club.
