The “Training on Basic Biotechnology” arranged by National Institute of Biotechnology (NIB) was held from March 5-10, 2016. For the first time, two MS students, Ms. Maisha Mosharrat Chowdhury and Ms. Tasmin Naila from the MS in Biotechnology program, Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, BRAC University participated in this training. Twenty students from nine different universities took part in the training. The overall training was divided into two sections, Theoretical and practical (hands-on training). Participants were also informed about the ongoing research in different fields of biotechnology at NIB. On the last day, at the Closing and Certificate Award Ceremony certificates were given to the participants by Dr. Md. Salimullah, Director General, NIB. Dr. Shakil Ahmed Khan, Chief Scientific Officer and Divisional Head, Insect Biotechnology, IFRB, AERE was present as the Chief Guest. This training can be considered as a very good platform for building network among young biotechnologist of different universities and research organizations which may help them in the future and motivate them to contribute to the well-being of the country and its people.
