A group of students from biotechnology program of the MNS Department, visited the Zirabo plant of Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited at Savar on 12 March, 2016. The team included twenty four undergraduate and MS students accompanied by three faculty members, Dr. Mahboob Hossain, Ms. Fahareen Binte Mosharraf and Ms. Abira Khan. The plant tour started at around 11 am with a presentation of Incepta Pharmaceuticals. The Deputy General Manager of Quality Assurance Unit, Mr. Mohammad Ashraful Islam highlighted on how Incepta became the second leading pharmaceuticals company of the country and also gave an overview of the different units of the plant. Then the students were divided into two groups, each taking turns to visit the vaccine and insulin production units. The groups were given an overview of physical, chemical and microbiological quality control of pharmaceutical products using sophisticated machines like HPLC, UHPLC, IR, LC-MS-MS etc. The visit ended with a sumptuous lunch and feedback session. Overall, the visit provided the students with a practical learning experience of various technologies used in pharmaceutical industry.
