The BRAC University Pharma Society (BUPS) celebrated ‘World Pharmacist’s Day’ on September 25, 2016. On this occasion, the students of the Department of Pharmacy distributed leaflets reflecting the contribution of pharmacists to our society in BRAC University, Mohakhali campus.
The day, September 25, was declared as the ‘World Pharmacist’s Day’ by FIP-International Pharmaceutical Federation several years ago in Istanbul. FIP is a global organization which represents about three million pharmacists and pharmaceuticals scientists worldwide.
This year the theme for ‘World Pharmacist’s Day’ was ‘Pharmacists: Caring for you’. The theme was selected to highlight the important role played by pharmacists in providing patient care and to reflect the emotional attachment the pharmacists have with their patients. It also reflected the evolution of the role of pharmacists from simply providing medicine to playing a central role in patient care. The theme was successful in emphasizing the important role played by pharmacists not only in the outcome of pharmacological therapies, but also in the improvement of patient’s quality of life.
