We are proud to have Professor Rahim B. Talukdar as Advisor (with the status of Dean) at BRAC Business School (BBS) from June 2015. Dr. Talukdar was the Vice Chancellor of Eastern University and Bangladesh University of Business and Technology. He was also the Vice Chancellor- in-charge of Viqarunnissa University and Professor and Director of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. Dr. Talukdar did his B.Com. (hons.) and M.Com from University of Dhaka. He achieved his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. Prior to this he did an MBA from Indiana University, USA.
ESS
We are honoured to have Dr. Mahabub Hossain as a Distinguished Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Economics & Social Sciences (ESS) from June 2015. Prior to joining BRAC University, Dr. Hossain was shouldering the responsibilities of Executive Director of BRAC. He was also the head of Social Sciences Division at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippines and coordinator of the Consortium for Unfavorable Rice Environments (CURE) in Asia. Dr. Hossain did both his B.A. (hons.) and M.A. in Economics from the University of Calcutta, India and University of Dhaka respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Cambridge, UK.
CSE
Mr. Monzur Muhammad joined as Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) in June 2015. Mr. Muhammad completed his B.S. in Computer Software Engineering from the University of Washington, US and M.S. in Computer Science from the New York University, US.
Management and Admin
A new member, Mr. Bratakatha Nath joined as Lab Officer in the Department of Pharmacy in June 2015. Mr. Nath is a graduate in Pharmacy from BRAC University.
Left from BRAC University
Dr. Shahdeen Malik, who was the Director of School of Law (SoL), separated from his position in June 2015. He had been with the School since November 2003 and provided his leadership and guidance to elevate the School in its current position.
Ms. Thauhida Hussain, Lecturer of BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL), also separated from her position in June 2015.
From the administrative side, Ms. Rakshinda Huq, who was serving as Career Services Officer in the Office of Career Service of Alumni Relations (OCSAR), separated from her position in June 2015.
Faculty on Study Leave
Ms. Tanjina Sharmin, who was serving as Lecturer in the School of Law (SoL), went on study leave in June 2015 for pursuing her Doctoral Studies at Monash University, Australia. Her area of study will be ‘Scope of MFN clause particularly in extending jurisdiction of Investment Treaty Tribunals’.
Re-Joining
Mr. Kazi Abu Bakar Siddique rejoined as Lecturer at BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL) after his study leave in June 2015. He successfully completed his term as a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) from Indiana University, USA.
