Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) and Inter Academy Partnership (IAP) jointly organized the “Young Scientists Congress” on 27-28 October, 2016 at the auditorium of National Museum of Science and Technology, Agargaon, Dhaka-1207. A group of faculty members of the MNS Department, in the biotechnology and microbiology programs including Dr. Aparna Islam, Ms. Jebunnesa Chowdhury, Ms. Romana Siddique, Ms. Nazneen Jahan, Ms. Kashmery Khan and Ms. Eusra Mohammad along with two teaching assistants Mr. Salman Khan Promon and Ms. Nahreen Mirza attended the program. “Young Scientists Congress” was held where young scientists presented their research results. The areas of research were health, agriculture, engineering, environment etc. The biological sciences session of the congress was chaired by Professor Dr. Quazi Abdul Fattah, former Professor of botany, DU and co-chaired by Professor Dr. Z N Tahmida Begum, Professor of botany, DU and Dr. Aparna Islam was the rapporteur. The biological sciences session of the Congress highlighted the progresses made in recent times in related fields in Bangladesh through powerpoint presentations.
