The International Visitor Leadership Program is a professional exchange program funded by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The mission of IVLP is to offer current and emerging international leaders to promote the opportunity to experience the richness and diversity of American political, economic, social and cultural life.
This year Shami Suhrid, Psychosocial Counselor and Lecturer of BRAC University participated in the Program titled “School and University Counselors on the Frontlines of CVE” along with 4 other Counselors from different academic institutions of Bangladesh. The program began in Washington D.C. on September 23, 2017 and ended in New York City on October 14, 2017 after visiting Los Angeles, Chicago and Louisville in between. The carefully designed exchanges allowed the participants to meet with scholars, professionals, members of law enforcement agencies and government officials to reflect their professional interests on effective prevention and intervention methods to counter mental health crises stemmed out of radicalization among young population and to promote overall mental health wellbeing in the community level.
