BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL) organized a Training of Teachers on Cantonese Language Module for Caregivers from November 04 to November 06, 2018, at BRAC University. 28 teachers from around 16 districts of Bangladesh were nominated by state-run Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) for the training. It was conducted by Mr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, faculty member of BIL, and facilitated by several other faculty members of the institute.
The training was designed in a way so that the participants can gain experience on how to handle the Cantonese language learners and how to motivate them. The participants gained practical experience on the existing teaching methodologies incorporating effective teaching-learning materials. Mr. Asif Munier, Program Officer at International Labour Organization (ILO), spoke about the importance of manpower development during the inauguration ceremony of the training. Director of BIL Lady Syeda Sarwat Abed, who was present during the closing ceremony, officially brought the two-day training to an end with her inspiring speech about the career benefits of such training.
