158 female students of JKKNIU were awarded certificates for completing entrepreneurship training at a certificate awarding ceremony
This 19th February 2019, the Centre for Peace and Justice of Brac University organised a Certificate Awarding Ceremony to award training completion certificates to the students of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University at Gahi Sammer Gan Mukto Monch in JKKNIU campus in Mymensingh, as part of 'Empowered Women, Peaceful Communities' project undertaken by CPJ and UN Women Bangladesh. With this, CPJ successfully completed entrepreneurship training for more than 300 female students of two regional public universities namely Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Mymensingh and Begum Rokeya University Rangpur. The honourable Vice-Chancellor of JKKNIU, Prof. Dr. A H M Mustafizur Rahman, was the Chief Guest of the ceremony while Prof. Dr. Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, Vice-Chancellor of BRUR along with a team of faculty members joined the auspicious occasion as the special guest.
Female students of JKKNIU, 158 in total, received intensive training on entrepreneurship as part of this distinguished project, where JKKNIU and BRUR are the implementing partners. At the ceremony, two groups of winners were awarded seed funding to start their innovative business ideas. They won the awards through a competitive process, which had a total of 25 entries.
Last 14 January 2019, 155 students of BRUR, were awarded the same certificates in such an event in Brac Learning Centre, Rangpur and two groups were awarded seed fund to start their innovative social enterprise.
This entrepreneurship training consists of innovation workshop and business planning boot camp following a 'learning by doing' approach. It aims to improve understanding about entrepreneurship skills and components of business through which the participants will be skilled to develop socially responsible entrepreneurial ideas. After reviewing all the business plans the best four have been chosen to provide seed funding so that they can start their business. They are also being provided with mentoring support to initiate their new businesses.
