The Moot Court Team of the School of Law, Brac University have been ranked 2nd Runners-up in the 3rd Bangladesh National Round of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2019 held at the Department of Law, Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) between 21st and 23rd February 2019. The team comprised of Ms Sayma Akhter, Mr Adnaan Uddin Ahmed and Ms Ujma Mashiat, and they were coached by Mr Farhaan Uddin Ahmed, Lecturer at the School of Law. The Team received the award for the second-best memorial and Mr Adnaan Uddin Ahmed ranked the third-best speaker in the competition.
The University of Dhaka clinched the Champion’s Trophy while Eastern University became the 1st Runners-up. The national qualifying round was organized by the International Law Students Association (ILSA) in collaboration with the Bangladesh Chapter of Asian Society of International Law (AsianSIL) and the United States’ Department of Justice, with participating teams from twenty-four universities. The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is the largest, most prestigious, and one of the oldest moot court competitions in the world with participation from more than 700 universities from around 100 countries in the various regional and national rounds.
