Asian Development Bank (ADB)'s Vice President Mr. Bindu N. Lohani gave a public lecture titled “Addressing the Climate Challenge in Asia: Role of Finance++ on August 19, 2014 at BRAC Centre. The lecture was jointly Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research (C3ER) - BRAC University, Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS), and International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD) - Independent University. The session was started through the welcome speech of Dr. Ainun Nishat PhD, Professor Emeritus of BRAC University. Afterward, Mr. Lohani talked about the climate change challenge in Asia and the Pacific, how ADB is helping its developing member countries transition to low-carbon and climate resilient growth. He shared ADB's strategic priorities until 2020 on climate change. He highlighted ADB's Finance++ approach that makes use of ADB financing to leverage external climate finance from public and private sources, and broker knowledge and technology among its member countries. The technical session was divided into four sub categories such as looking to Asia 2050, our climate challenge, responding to climate change: ADB strategies and programs, and knowledge management & technology (Finance++ Approach).
