The School of General Education (GenEd) organized Young Scholars’ Seminar (GenEd YSS) on July 13, 2023, at the residential campus, to celebrate the pursuit of knowledge, innovation, and critical thinking under the theme "Bangladesh Beyond 50: Quest for Inclusive Development".
Dr David Dowland, the Registrar of BRAC University as inaugurated the seminar as Chief Guest. Professor Dr Samia Huq, Dean of the School of General Education, and Dr Ratan Kumar Roy, Assistant Professor of the School of General Education as the Convener of the seminar welcomed the Presenters, Chairs of different sessions, Faculty Members, Admin staff, and students. Professor Dr Asifa Sultana, Professor Dr Manosh Chowdhury, Professor Dr Shamim Reza, Professor Dr Shahidur Rahman, Professor Dr Wasiqur Rahman, Associate Professor Dr Sabreena Ahmed, Associate Professor Dr Mahruba Tasneem, Associate Professor Dr Tabassum Zaman, Associate Professor Dr Seuty Sabur, Assistant Professor Dr Moiyen Zalal Chowdhury, Assistant Professor Dr Tahseen H. Ali, Assistant Professor Dr Joyashree Sarma, were the respected chairs of
the seminar who contributed their remarks on the selected 28 papers divided into six parallel sessions.
The sessions were themed as Education, Society and Development; Culture, Social Identity and Development; Gender, Inclusivity and Development; Media, Technology and Development; Border, Migration and Diplomacy; Trade, Labor and Economic Development.
This highly anticipated day-long seminar has exhibited a platform for graduate students, budding researchers, and early-career scholars of different institutions to interact and share knowledge. It has created an intellectual extravaganza that will leave a lasting impact on all attendees. GenEd YSS intends to be an interdisciplinary, interactive, and inspiring platform for the exchange of scholarships and ideas among young, aspiring academics, researchers, and thinkers in Bangladesh today and in the future.
