Abul Fazal Mahmuda’s Nobi, Assistant Professor of the Department of Architecture, BRAC University recently participated as a distinguished discussant in the webinar titled "AI in Architecture Education: Embrace Carefully?" The webinar, organized by Context Lounge of context.bd.com, delved into the profound impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on architectural education during the fourth industrial revolution.
In this thought-provoking webinar, various widely used AI tools, such as midjourney, stable diffusion, chatGPT, DALL-E, Veras and many more in combination with drawing modeling tools like Sketchup or Revit were discussed, highlighting their potential to transfigure the architectural design process and streamline project timelines.
Abul Fazal Mahmudun Nobi discussed the seamless integration of AI tools, particularly Stable Diffusion WebUI, into the ideation of students' projects to discover endless possibilities. He explained various methodologies such as plain text prompting, prompt engineering, and leveraging extensions like ControlNet, Inpaint masking, and Composable LoRA. He further emphasized the importance of students creating their own datasets using Kohya’s GUi to achieve desired results in architectural studios. The captivating discussion centered on identifying best practices and tackling challenges in embracing AI as an avant-garde approach to architectural education in Bangladesh.
As BRAC University continues to lead the way in fostering innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration, Abul Fazal Mahmudun Nobi's insights shed light on AI's exciting possibilities to shape the future of architectural education. This endeavor seeks to empower students with the expertise to harness the potential of AI tools while nurturing their creative prowess, marking a significant stride towards a technology-driven yet empathetic architectural landscape”.
