Mohammad Rejaul Karim, BIL faculty conducted one three and a half hour long workshop with 13 High School English teachers from rural areas of Bangladesh in BRAC University Savar Campus, on August 20, 2014. The workshop was titled Working in Low Resource Classrooms where the facilitator cascaded a number of techniques he had learnt from Hornby Regional School held in Kathmandu, Nepal in November 2013. All the participating teachers were experienced English teachers coming from different districts of Bangladesh.
The purpose of cascading the ideas was to help high school English teachers, mostly from rural areas, to teach more effectively the in low and almost-no resource classrooms. The workshop aims to help the teacher: involve their learners more during the class time; and prepare materials using the available resources in and around their own environment.
It is worth mentioning that some of the attending teachers later contacted Mr. Karim to share that the techniques they learnt at the workshop were very helpful for them in teaching their students
