A delegation of 9 students of 3rd year Architecture accompanied by Dr. Mahtab Uz Zaman, Assistant Professor of the department attended the ARCASIA Student Jamboree held in Hong Kong and Macau from November 29- December 1, 2004. ARCASIA is the forum for all Institutes of Architects of Asia. A student Jamboree of the students of architecture schools from all over Asia is held once every two years. The theme of this year's Jamboree was "Development and Heritage"and consisted of workshops and presentations on the theme. The sub themes were Tourism, Community Living and Post-colonial Space & Identity. The students participated in the various events and presented their work to other students. They also toured the architectural sites of Hong Kong and Macau. Nafisur Rahman, student of Junior I won first prize in the sketching competition held at the Jamboree. The Jamboree was organized by The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) and co-organized by The Department of Architecture, The University of Hong Kong (HKU); The Department of Architecture, The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and UIA Region IV Work Programme 'Architecture for All'. BRAC University provided partial support for participation in the event. Generous support was also provided by BRAC Bank, Maritime Bags Ltd, Evince Group of Companies, Charuta Ltd, Etafil and Tamishna Group, Berger Paints, Prime Bank, Profile Ltd, Renata Bangladesh Ltd, Purbani Yarn Dyeing Ltd, Building for Future Ltd and Hatil Complex. There was also some contribution from the students.
