Drama and Theatre Forum of BRAC University staged parts of three plays in satirical form, at the National Museum Auditorium on December 9, 2006. Although Liberation War did not appear directly, the spirit of our Struggle for freedom was the key theme presented through the social turmoil in the plays. The students first staged excerpts from Momotaz Uddin Ahmed's 'Shqjoler- Maa'. Through the story of a wartime born child and the sufferings of the family, Momotaz Uddin Ahmed's play depicted the faulty social milieu in the post Independence War Bangladesh. Abdullah Al Mamun's drama 'Shenapoti' satirized those who became a part of the elite class by manipulating the postwar scenario. Syed Shamsul Haq's masterpiece-- 'Payer Awaj Pawa Jay' unveiled some dark sides of the liberation War through narratives. Haq's poetic dialogue wonderfully presented the brutality carried out by the Occupation army and their collaborators during the War. Young artistes of the theatre forum were impressive. The Program was directed by Mr. Obayedullah Al Zakir, PRO, BU. Professor J R Chowdhury, VC BU, Mr. Abdullah Al Mamun and Mr. Syed Shamsul Haq addressed the audience before the Play was staged.
