The round table was organized by Developing Midwives Project, BRAC University (BRACU) on 28th May 2016 at The Daily Star Centre, Dhaka. The round table discussion provided all participants an opportunity to discuss progress and challenges faced by the government and BRAC University. The key participants include government health officials, NGO health officials, health researchers, policy makers, development partners, UN agencies, and international experts on midwifery education. During the round table, Goutam Aich Sarker, Joint Secretary (Nursing), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said ‘the government and private sector should work together to make sure that midwives are available in every corner of the country. Dr Ahmed Mushtaque Raza Chowdhury, Vice-Chairperson, BRAC and Adviser, Developing Midwives Project BRAC University, said “We also have a plan to introduce BSc in midwifery so that we can take up the midwifery education to a higher stage.” A special supplement on the round table was published in the newspaper on 14th June 2016 in the Daily Star.
