In order to bridge the industry-academia gap, multiple faculty members from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), BRAC University (BracU) have participated in Software Developer Certificate Program (SDC) Training of Trainers (ToT) during February 22-24, 2019. Participants of the 3-day teachers’ training workshop included Dr Mohammad Zavid Parvez, Assistant Professor, Dr Muhammad Iqbal Hossain, Assistant Professor, Annajiat Alim Rasel, Lecturer III, Md Shafenoor Amin, Lecturer III, Mostafijur Rahman Akhond, Lecturer II, Khandaker Mamun Ahmed, Lecturer I, and Md. Saiful Islam, Lecturer I. Dr Mohammad Zavid Parvez coordinated the event from BracU side. From Kovair Software Bangladesh Ltd., Mr. Shibaji Gupta, Director, Mr. Uttam Kumar Paul, Managing Director, Ms Kaniz Fatema, SDC Program Coordinator and Business Development Executive facilitated the training. The training took place at Kovair Software Bangladesh Ltd. Office at Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue, Dhaka.
The program emphasized on concepts related to grooming the students through live projects from the industry over several months under mentorship of faculty members of the department. Students are expected to be exposed to Integrated Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) solutions and IT Service Management (ITSM) Solution for improving their technical expertise, ability to complete real life project maintaining industry standards within given timeframe, effective technical communication skills, prepare for the local and international job market, etc. The training aimed at disseminating the concepts for the SDC program for that students may experience, skills and exposure to tools in a project based environment, implementation of automated project management via tools, evaluating the effectiveness of the SDC program for the students, etc.
