Sultana, Asifa, Stokes, Stephanie, Thomas Klee. Morphosyntactic development of Bangla-speaking preschool children. First Language. doi:10.1177/0142723716673958. Principal Investigator: Dr Asifa Sultana. Linguistics and First Language Acquisition. International Journal Article.
Dr. Asifa Sultana, assistant professor, ENH, published the findings of her PhD project on Bangla child language development in the First Language journal. The paper is titled 'Morphosyntactic development of Bangla-speaking preschool children', and co-authored by Dr. Sultana's supervisors Prof. Stephanie Stokes and Prof. Thomas Klee (University of Hong Kong), and Prof. Emeritus Paul Fletcher (University College Cork, Ireland). Based on child data from Bangladesh, the paper is the first to document the trajectory of Bangladeshi children's morphosyntactic development, and therefore it is likely to be key in establishing intervention framework for Bangla-speaking children with language difficulties.
The research was conducted in the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.
