It was a great pleasure to have Mushira Habib, Lecturer on study leave, present her paper under ENH Seminar Series. The paper was titled “The Character Portrayal (or the lack) of Fanny Price in Mansfield Park”. The talk was held on 2nd August 2015.
International conference presentations of the month included Professor Firdous Azim’s plenary paper on the relation between social movements and literary writings presented at the Inter Asia Cultural Studies (IACS) biennial conference in Airlangga University, Surabaya, Indonesia. The conference was held from 7th to 9th August 2015.
She also presented a paper on “Gender, Writing and Nation” at the newly-formed Bangladesh-Myanmar academic and intellectual exchange in Yangon, Myanmar. Afsan Chowdhury is also a member of this exchange network, and he presented a paper on Diversity and Class in the same meeting.
Rukhsana R. Chowdhury, Senior Lecturer , gave a presentation titled "Historical Overview of the Urdu Literary Traditions in Bangladesh" at the 11th International Conference, "Itihash o Oitijjo'r Bishoy" organised by the History Academy, Dhaka on the 28th August .
A research article titled, “An evaluation of the tasks of IX-X textbook English for Today: An empirical study”, by Mohammad Mahmudul Haque, Senior Lecturer, ENH and Zahin Antara Zishnu was published in Spectrum :Journal of the Department of English,University volume 10, 2015.
ENH’s students are always venturing into new opportunities where they can apply their knowledge and skills. Md. Mustafa Monowar, M.A. student was selected to represent Bangladesh at the Future News Conference to be held at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, Scotland from 4th-6th September 2015.Monowar was chosen after a fair and vigorous series of selection processes administered by the British Council. This opportunity will benefit the participants’ potential career in journalism.
