On the 21th of December, the Department of English and Humanities organized a lecture titled “Fruits of the Loom: Khaadi and the Tagore-Gandhi Debate” by Poulomi Saha, Assistant Professor of English, University of California, Berkeley. In the QA session, Dr. Saha gave her own thoughts on some of the intriguing questions that the audiences had about Tagore and Gandhi. Her area is the late 19th century decline of British colonial rule in the Indian Ocean through to the Pacific and the rise of American global power and domestic race relations in the 20th century.
