Mirror II: Intra University Short Film Competition 2016, was successfully conducted at BRAC University premises on the 17th of July, 2016.
ACME Laboratories Ltd. group was the sponsor for the event and the event was organized by BRAC University Film Club. The event was organized as a platform for all the creative minded students studying at BRAC University currently so that they could give the entire University an insight into their own minds through the short-films they create.
The event was a whole day event and was conducted in two portions. The first portion started from 11:00 in the morning. The competition had a total of 18 well made short films submitted by the participants. The morning session kicked-off with the screening of all the 18 short films for the students of BRAC University. The segment had a house full audience and all of the short films were applauded and well accepted by the people in the audience. This segment ended at 2:00 pm. The next segment was the award giving ceremony that started at 3:00 pm.
The segment was opened by welcoming the judges and guests onto the stage. The judges’ panel included renowned Directors, Mr. Debashishh Biswas, Mr. Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Raz, Mr. Mabrur Rashid Bannah and the event was graced with the presence of renowned actor Mr. Kochi Khondokar. All the judges and guests shared their opinion about Mirror II. The Award for Best Actor went to Yash Rohan for Doob, Best Cinematographer Ragib Israq Sohan for Lal Kagojer Taka, Best Script Sowad Hassan for Eti Laboni, Best Director Yash Rohan for Lal Kagojer Taka, Best Editor Fahim Quader, Adham Rahman Tanvee and Zahirul Islam for Daag. After the individual awards, it was time to announce the winners of the Short-Film Competition 2016. The Fourth Runners-up was the short film “Chokro” directed by Abdullah Al Galib & Sadia Tarannum, the Third Runners-up was “Doob” directed by Tafsin Jaber Ankan, the Second Runners-up was “Eti Laboni” directed by Dipto Mondol and the First Runners-up was “Daag” directed by Kabir Ahmed. The winning short film of the competition was “Lal Kagojer Taka” directed by Yash Rohan. The Second Runners-up, First Runners-up and the Winner were also given prize money of 8,000 BDT, 10,000 BDT and 15,000 BDT respectively. This marked the end of the second segment of Mirror-2. The event ended with a photo session with the judges and guests of the event.
