With the 3rd month of field test of the pilot project “Power Conversion for Electric Rickshaw-vans with PV Panel, Torque Sensor Pedal and a Battery Charging Station– A Complete Off-grid Solution in March, the Control & Applications Research Centre developed a modified version of Electrically-Assisted Rickshaw-vans based on the qualitative analysis of the test reports. The upgraded model has the key features of smaller& thicker wheels, increased battery power, double motor, stronger chassis and so on.
Both the local passengers and the drivers are very pleased with this innovation. They also think that this new model is comparable with the easy bikes. Analysis of this is ongoing. Also re-modification of the other type of vehicles, i.e the ambulance van are on the way.
