A seminar on technical paper writing was held by Robotics club of BRAC University (ROBU) on 14th November, 2016; at GDLN Centre, BRAC University. It was conducted by Shifur Rahman Shakil, the research assistant of Dr. Md. Khalilur Rahman, Associate Professor, Department of Computer and Engineering, BRAC University. Unquestionably, this seminar helped the audiences to write a good thesis or conference paper, making them aware of the necessity of technical paper so the students can keep their projects as documents instead of losing it.
Mr. Shifur shared his experience and knowledge about OTEC, biofuel and Nano structure or Nano tech. He talked about the problems faced by thesis students and their dos and don’ts during writing a paper. After talking about these issues, he moved to different parts of technical paper: title, abstract, introduction, related work, the body, performance experiments, conclusion, future work, the acknowledgement, citations and appendices respectively. Simply put, he shared all the necessary information about thesis paper such as process of addressing problems, process of approaching projects, system architecture, importance of better simulation result, format and also the address of sites where thesis or project papers are available. He also mentioned that it is very usual not to get the conference paper published after submitting it to IEEE conference. However, it will be also useful because writers will get feedback. The seminar was concluded by handing over a gift to Mr. Shifur for his wonderful and helpful speech. To make it a memorable session, certificates from ROBU were provided to the audiences.
