A seminar on “Women Rights: Myth or Reality” was organized by the UNESCO Club on Wednesday, 9 March, 2016 at the Auditorium of BRACU.
The seminar was about the present condition of women around the world. The purpose of the seminar was to discuss the real scenario of women who are still struggling and are deprived. The seminar was held to celebrate the International Women’s Day.
The chief guest of the program was Barrister Sarah Hossain (Executive Director, BLAST). The guest speakers of the program were Professor K Shamsuddin Mahmood (Dean, School of Law), Professor Firdous Azim (Chairperson, Department of English and Humanities) and Dr. Rifat Mahbub (Assistant Professor, Department of English and Humanities). The event was hosted by Nishat Tarannum, Vice President of UNESCO Club.
Noman Parvez and Lisa Aysha, students of School of Law presented their papers on women rights. Afterwards, a video presentation was made by BLAST on women rights violation and how they work for the women by delivering legal support. Lastly, Professor Firdous Azim gave a short speech on women’s leadership and empowerment.
