Professor Firdous Azim and Dr Shuchi Karim, visiting faculty at ENH, visited the Centre for Gender Studies (CGS) at the University of Umea in Sweden from the 29th of September to the 3rd of October 2014.
CGS has been awarded a Linnaeus-Palme fellowship under the Swedish Government, to partner with a university based in the global South. ENH and CGST of BIGD are part of this partnership, which will include teacher exchange as well as student exchange. This will connect the Department and the Centre with a Scandinavian University, and will help them operate in a more international environment. Concentrating on gender studies, from a literature and development perspective, will also enhance the inter-disciplinary academic approach.
CGS representatives will be visiting BRAC University at the end of January 2015, in order to set up this partnership.
