Professor Jungpil Shin, Ph.D. from University of Aizu, Japan recently visited CSE department of Brac University and conducted a seminar on “Human Computer Interface: Action with Advanced Technology” on Monday, March 25, 2019. This seminar was organized by ‘Multimedia Signal and Image Processing Research Group’, led by Dr. Jia Uddin. Chairperson of the CSE Department, Professor Md. Abdul Mottalib, Ph.D. introduced the seminar. It took place in Research Lab (UB71201) of Department of CSE, Brac University. Professor Shin has been working in the Division of Information Systems in the said university for a long time. In this seminar he showed the recent activities of his lab which includes Character Generating based on human activities detected with sensors. He also showed a practical demonstration of how it works, and discussed the future prospects of this technology. After his presentation, Professor Shin also answered some questions asked by the faculty members and students. In the second part of this seminar, there was another presentation by Dr. Md. Rashedul Islam who is also working with Professor Shin as a Visiting Researcher in the same university. His presentation was on “Machine Learning Applications Based on Image and Signal Processing”. He showed some approaches- how to use Image and Signal Processing based Machine Learning Applications in the lab. Over 70 students took part in this seminar. At the end of this seminar both the presenters were given a souvenir by Dr. Jia Uddin as a token of appreciation.
