A seminar on Deep Learning for Computer Vision, Networking and Cloud Computing was held on March 21, 2019. The event took place at UB71201 of Brac University. It was jointly organized by Computer Vision and Intelligent System Lab (CVIS), Cloud Computing and Networking Research Group (CCNRG), and Brac University Computer Club (BUCC) members.
Dr. Md. Abdul Mottalib, Professor and Chairperson, CSE Department inaugurated the event. He introduced machine learning to the audience. Dr. Md Golam Rabiul Alam stated machine learning is a form of neural architecture. He talked about the different dimensions of learning. He further stated the neural network is inspired by the signaling of the neuron from the human brain. He discussed that convolution is the concept of interlude Deep Learning and Neural Network. It can also be used to filter out precise data. He talked about matrix operations and various options regarding convolution. Function and the gradient of the learning rate were presented on his slide. He encouraged his audience to ask any questions relating to the topic and hence a small question-answer session took place. He thus introduced the concept of max pooling.
Dr. Rabiul enlightened the audience about the implementations of Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and it’s further scopes and taught the usage of CNN in speech recognition. His audience also learned the usage of Padding, Stride and much more in Pooling and the results of the Convolution Phase. At last, Golam Rabiul Alam asked some questions to his fellow audience regarding Convolution dimensions of Neural Network. The event concluded with him inviting the students to participate in AIA Machine Learning which will supposedly take place in the next semester and to which majority of the students responded positively.
Dr. Md. Ashraful Alam and Annajiat Alim Rasel, both from CSE department were present in the event. The event would not have been successful without the help of the BUCC members. Special thanks go to Zalish Mahmud, Mushfiqul Islam Chowdhury, Md. Ashikur Rahman, Md. Muntaha Islam, Rowshanara Sadia, Ahnaf Rahman Khan, Anindita Bose, and Sarwar Siddiqui Taki. The press release was covered by Naavid Morshed and Anindita Bose.
