On 24 November, BRACU teachers and students had the opportunity to listen to the charismatic speaker and the acclaimed writer of In the Light of What We Know, Zia Haider Rahman. Professor Firdous Azim set the ball rolling by announcing that it would be a lovely conversation between two fiction writers, both hailing originally from Sylhet.
Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam engaged him in an interesting conversation. Mr. Rahman mentioned that the art of creative writing is the most capable of providing introspection on the human expressions, emotions and experiences. Discussing his emotional investment in the writing experience, he mentioned dedicating over four years to creating this novel and completely relishing the opportunity of immersing himself in his work. He also elaborated on the contribution that his scientific knowledge made to his striking literary style. In the Q&A session, he invited the audiences to sample the first chapter of his book (available online) and to invest in it only if they liked it.
