The James P. Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH) at BRAC University celebrates its 10th Graduate Forum on Jan 23, 2015. Taken place at Sasakawa Auditorium, icddr’b, the Gradates Forum was graced by Dr. Mushtaque Raza Chowdhury, Vice Chair, BRAC & Advisor, James P. Grant School of Public Health and the Midwifery Programme as the Chair of the occasion; Professor Syed Saad Andaleeb, honorable Vice Chancellor, BRAC University as the Chief Guest; Dr. K. M Sultanul Aziz, Secretary, Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) and Former Associate Director, icddr,b as the Keynote Speaker; Dr. Abbas Bhuiya, Deputy Executive Director, icddr,b and Professor, JPGSPH as Special Guest and Yvette N. Malcion, Family Welfare Team Leader, USAID/ Bangladesh as the Special Guests of the event. Professor Malabika Sarker, Acting Dean, JPGSPH was the host of the Graduate Forum.
In addition to giving certificates to successfully graduating students, the Forum also marked with awards for the students who through the year had outstanding performances in different categories. Nepalese student Rasmita Paudel was awarded The Allan Rosenfeld Award for best academic performance. Bangladeshi student Md. Rajibul Islam was awarded The Sir Fazle Hasan Abed Award for Leadership. Indian student Manish Kumar Namdeo was awarded W.B. Greenough III Award for best individual High Level Outline (HLO) of Summative Learning Project (SLP) 2014. The group of students who won the Richard Cash Award for best SLP group poster worked on rise of C-section included Anindya Das from Bangladesh, Bijaya Devkota from Nepal, Md. Imtiaz Alam Tanim from Bangladesh, Mohammad Nazir from Afghanistan, Nameerah Khan from Bangladesh, Roksana Hoque from Bangladesh and Subhasish Das from Bangladesh
In addition to students, the Forum awarded faculties of JPGSPH for teaching excellence. Dr. Stephen P. Luby, Professor, JPGSPH and Professor of Medicine, Stanford University was awarded the Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain Teaching Excellence Award and Gladys Leterme was also awarded Begum Rokeya Sakhawat Hossain Teaching Excellence Award for her contribution as Teaching Fellow.
