Naushad UzZaman, a student of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), traveled to Calgary, Canada to attend the Fourth IASTED International Conference on Computational Intelligence from July 4-6, 2005. Naushad presented a paper titled "A Double Metaphone Encoding for Approximate Name Searching and Matching in Bangla", summarizing some of the results of his undergraduate thesis project. The paper was co-authored by Dr. Mumit Khan, Associate Professor of CSE. Naushad's trip was funded by BRAC University with support from Southtech Limited and PAN Localization Project grant from the International Development Research Center (IDRC), Ottawa, Canada.
