“It took NASA eight years to successfully land men on the moon; I plan to land BracU on the map of international higher education in half of that time, four years” said Brac University (BracU) President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Vincent Chang.
Describing BracU’s missions to be the first of its kinds, he plans to take BracU to go where no other Bangladeshi universities have gone before.
Quality education goes hand in hand with internationalisation, for which BracU had set a benchmark for itself to enhance student experiences and have far-fetching impacts that will make it stand out on the global map, said Professor Chang.
BracU does not want to limit itself to once being listed as one of the 400 best Asian universities, for Bangladeshi universities are quite far off when it came to global rankings, he said.
“Our overarching goal is to make Brac University a proud, international institution from Bangladesh,” said Professor Chang while delivering a keynote speech at the opening of an international conference on Thursday, 22 August 2019.
The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organised the two-day “1st CETL Conference on Higher Education” in its Dhanmondi campus in the capital.
Professor Chang narrated his six months’ journey with BracU, some of his initiatives, BracU’s updated vision and mission and future plans with the audience.
University Grants Commission Chairman Professor Kazi Shahidullah and ULAB Vice-Chancellor Professor HM Jahirul Haque also spoke at the event.
