What we Do: Roles and Responsibilities
The Proctors’ Office is an impartial and discrete institution within the University.
The Proctor and Assistant Proctors act as trustees of the University Committees with a role which involves advocacy and scrutiny. They oversee student matters and uphold the University’s statutes and policies throughout its governance and administration. The Proctor has a general responsibility for student safety and may work with the police and other partners to ensure that our students are safe and feel safe.
Student Conduct - ensures that all students can go about their studies and lives within the University environment without being subjected to inappropriate behaviour by other students.
Student Complaints – to give appropriate advice and support to students wishing to make complaints about other students in the University, harassment within the University from outsiders and even about the University.
The Office deals with all non-academic student issues.
