BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL) organizes a workshop titled "Communicate Yourself into Research: How to Avoid Predatory Journals and Conferences in the Process" on Thursday, 22nd February 2024 at the main campus of BRAC University. The session is conducted by the renowned research expert Dr. Anik Nandi, Director of the Centre for Languages and Multicultural Communication, and Joseph Lo Bianco Chair for Language Policy Studies at Woxsen University, Telangana, India. The session was graced by the presence of the Director of BIL, Professor Shaila Sultana, PhD. The esteemed attendees included BIL faculty members, MA TESOL students, and professionals and researchers from various institutions around the country.
During the workshop, Dr. Nandi sheds light on the key to effective academic writing and the challenges of developing and writing a research paper by covering the fundamentals of research, such as where to get started, structuring a good manuscript step by step, presenting a concise research question in context, preparing the paper adhering to submission guidelines, avoiding predatory journals and conferences to choosing an appropriate and reliable venue for publication. A highlight of this workshop is that following the session on how to effectively communicate one’s research, participants share their writing and receive valuable feedback and suggestions from the expert.
