BRAC University was appreciated in the Duke of Edinburg Award Night 2023 recently for enrolling the highest number of participants among all institutions in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Program. Her Excellency Sarah Cooke, the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh attended the program as chief guest.
Professor Syed Mahfuzul Aziz, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Acting Vice-Chancellor of BRAC University attended the event accompanied by Dr. David Dowland, Registrar, BRAC University, Tahsina Rahman, Joint Director, Student Life, BRAC University. Ms. Lubna Choudhury, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Foundation Bangladesh, Mr. Rizwan Bin Farouq, Honorary Secretary of the Board of Trustees of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Foundation Bangladesh, Mr. Mirza Salman Ispahani, Treasurer, Board of Trustees of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Foundation Bangladesh along with Heads of other institutions also attended the event. 280 students from 40 institutions from the country participated in this award program.
Mr. Rizwan Bin Farouq, Honorary Secretary of the Board of Trustees of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Foundation Bangladesh provided the welcome remarks in the event. He appreciated BRAC University for enrolling the highest number of participants among all intuitions in this award program. He also expected that other universities will encourage students to join in this Duke of Edinburgh award program.
Professor Syed Mahfuzul Aziz said that participating in the Duke of Edinburgh program helps students to grow personally, academically, and professionally, and can be a life-changing experience. This will support their vision of improving themselves as better persons by serving the community as well as complementing their self-development activities. These are much aligned with the motto of BRAC University, he added.
Her Excellency Sarah Cooke, the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh said that the Duke of Edinburgh program can be a transformative and rewarding experience for both young people and the wider community. She wished every success to the participating young people and organisers involved in this award program.
