BRAC University showcased its journey, unique features and achievements as a part of BRAC celebrating its 50 years through a three-day “BRAC Hope Festival 2023” at Bangladesh Army Stadium, Dhaka beginning on 9 February, 2023. As an epilogue of year-long observance, marking its 50 years, and to rejoice the indomitable spirit of the people of Bangladesh, BRAC organized this ‘BRAC Hope Festival 2023’. This was a festival of culture, stories, crafts, music, art and many more attractions. The celebration brought together people from all occupations to celebrate BRAC's remarkable achievements and to look forward to the future with anticipation.

A dedicated pavilion showcased a scaled-up version of the country’s first nanosatellite BRAC Onnesha and artworks of Residential Semester students while screens played videos on the Residential Semester, new campus in Merul Badda, notable research with international collaborations and projects of the architecture department on creating resilience in the built environment. There were also student volunteers describing projects of the architecture department such as zero carbon prefabricated bamboo buildings and “Oikatan” – design of a civic center.

Alumni and international students of different departments came over to express their reactions alongside dignitaries such as Tamara Hasan Abed, Chairperson, Board of Trustees, BRAC University, Asif Saleh, Executive Director, BRAC, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for ICT, and Lilly Nicholls, Canadian High Commissioner to Bangladesh.

Visitors were able to interact with creations of the BRAC University Robotics team such as “BRACU Mongoltori”, “BRACU Dichari” and “BRACU Duburi” alongside play “Robosoccer” with smaller ones and take part in a “Robobytes” workshop. There was also an “Arch.Kids” interactive workshop focusing children organized by the Department of Architecture.

BRAC University students’ choir rendered a musical performance and a panel discussion was organised on “Sustainability: climate change and adaptation strategies” with Professor Zainab Faruqui Ali, Chairperson, Department of Architecture, BRAC University, Khondaker Hasibul Kabir, Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture, BRAC University, Asif Saleh, Executive Director, BRAC, Advocate Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Lawyer, Supreme Court of Bangladesh, Md Liakath Ali, Director, climate change programme at BRAC, Emerald Upoma Baidya, a community architect and a play professional, and Imran Hossain, a climate activist and divisional coordinator in Youthnet for Climate Justices.
