Imagine geese flying in a V formation. Brac University (BracU) is not the leading goose in Bangladesh’s higher education. It is the only goose flying, said BracU President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Vincent Chang. BracU is Bangladesh’s leading private university. But there is no Bangladeshi university in global rankings. They are off the global map. Professor Chang is looking forward to setting the international standard.
14 students from Carleton College were visiting Bracu on Tuesday, 17 December, 2019. Carleton College regularly offers a study trip to Bangladesh during the winter term. It is part of a course, ECON 201: Analysis of Microeconomic Development Models. The students were scheduled to go around BRAC’s Manikganj regional office on 18 December, 2019.
The Vice-Chancellor said BracU was committed to internationalisation, providing students unique experiences and internships. It is now mandatory for BracU students to do internships at BRAC. Professor Chang wants to give the BracU students a different life experience.
Some of the students asked about BracU’s role in the Rohingya crisis. Professor Chang said BracU’s centres, institutes and schools can provide academic resource and consultancy. They can contribute in research.
