Nafira Nayeem Ahmad, an undergraduate student of the Department of English and Humanities at BRAC University, recently became one of 20 young people to receive a Legacy Award. Launched in 2017, The Legacy Award celebrates young leaders, visionaries and role models from across the world, who have demonstrated their ability to inspire new generations to service their communities, as the late Diana, Princess of Wales did herself.To be eligible for the 2023 Legacy Award, potential candidates must have first received a Diana Award between 2022-2023.
On March 14, William, the Prince of Wales and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, paid tribute to and convened with the 20 young individuals through a ceremony at Science Museum in London.
Nafira Nayeem Ahmad was recognized for “Amplitude”, a non-profit and youth-driven organization she founded in 2019 to eliminate discrimination through sustainable solutions. Aided by over 30 volunteers, she has also led over 30 charity events helping marginalised people, with one of their main events being an art exhibition and open mic night.
The event showcased 40 underprivileged artists, with the funds from the tickets raising BDT 100,000 which was used to buy art supplies for over 200 orphans.
