A faculty member of the Department of Pharmacy, Md. Samiul Alam Rajib, Senior Lecturer participated in a training program entitled “Advanced Training on Next Generation Drug Discovery” from April 23, 2017 to April 27, 2017 at BCSIR (Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research), Chittagong. It was organized by MMDDL (Molecular Modeling and Drug Design Laboratory), BCSIR Laboratory Chittagong and BBCBA (Bangladesh Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Association) of Bangladesh. It was actively conducted by S. M. Zahid Hosen, Scientific Officer, Project Leader & Lead instructor, MMDDL, BCSIR Chittagong; Raju Dash, and Md. Junaid, Research Assistant, MMDDL, BCSIR Chittagong. The participants included varied group of students, research scholars, industry representatives and faculty member etc. coming from different institutes across Bangladesh.
The objective of this training program was to enhance the productivity of participant’s research knowledge on computer-based methods in the fields of organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry or molecular design of pharmaceuticals. Keeping this in mind, the training program was indeed an initiative to pave the way of next generation drug design and development.
