Srijan Banik, a student of the School of Data and Sciences has been named as the very first “Global Fellow” of Open Society University Network (OSUN) from BRAC University. Announced and inaugurated in 2020 by George Soros, the founder of Open Society Foundation, the OSUN enables teaching, research and other exchanges among universities, institutes and think tanks worldwide. BRAC University is a founding member.
Global Fellows are people who have developed and sustained civic engagement projects and demonstrated leadership skills and a desire and aptitude for working with others. They have designated office hours in their home institutions to facilitate civic engagement workshops for students and support changemakers in launching their own social impact projects.
Fellow student leaders have also been named from Bard's international network and the OSUN, including Al-Quds Bard College (Palestine), American University of Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan), Ashesi University (Ghana), Bard College Berlin (Germany), Fulbright University Vietnam (Vietnam), Central European University (Hungary), American University of Beirut (Lebanon), Bard College (U.S.), and fellows from the OSUN Hubs program.
In this role, Srijan Banik will be coordinating, supporting, and promoting civic-engagement projects across the OSUN and Bard International Network, including the already existing ones with the School of General Education and Student Life.

Srijan Banik is also a Millennium Fellow at the United Nations Academic Impact and former campus director of the program. He is currently leading the Social Impact Lab at BRAC University.
