The professional world is not all about CGPA as different skills acquired through training carry more significance, said Vice Chancellor Professor Vincent Chang at Brac University (BracU) on Thursday, 28 March 2019.
Addressing a ceremony awarding certificates to Spring 2019 semester students who attended a Professional Skills Development Program, he expressed hope that the Office of Career Services & Alumni Relations (OCSAR) would continue running the program.
The OCSAR, under the Office of Student Affairs, conducted the program, comprising two parts, imparting various skill development training which would help students acclimatise themselves to career environments once they graduate.
A total of 198 students attained the certificate, 39 with 100 percent attendance, alongside their trainers who also received crests from Professor Vincent as a token of appreciation.
One of the trainers, Minarul Islam, head of people & culture at Genex Infosys Limited, urged students to be competent enough to get hired. “You are the product of this university. You are representing the image of your university,” he said.
The other trainers were Mehraj Hamid, head of HR & Administration at Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Limited; Sayeed Nasir, general manager at bKash Limited, and Tajrian Binte Zaman, content manager at Echo Studios.
Assistant Professor Dilara Afroz Khan, director of the OCSAR, moderated the event while Ahmed Ataul Hakeem FCMA, controller of examinations, alongside other officials was present.
