On 13th October, 2016, the former thesis students, Audrika Eshna Purbasha from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of BRAC University attended the Sixth Annual IEEE Global Humanitarian Technology Conference 2016 (GHTC 2016). The conference took place for three days (13-16 October) in Seattle, Washington, USA, at Double-Tree by Hilton located at Seattle Airport. Audrika presented the paper titled “ELECTRICALLY FACILITATED SOLAR CARGO HAULER- A KEY TO EASY AND SAFE TRANSPORTATION”. The research work which is based on the authors’ thesis under Dr. A. K. M. Abdul Malek Azad has been highly appreciated by Mr. Roger Johnson, a keynote speaker, who is the founder and CEO of Eidon Foundation and also many other researchers participating in the conference. Mr. Johnson, who was the Track Chair for the oral presentation declared that her presentation and paper was the best from Deployment Track and for that he rewarded her with a Solar Charger. She was the only Bangladeshi to get this award as well as the only one from Bangladesh who got selected in the IEEE SIGHT funding program.
GHTC is a global humanitarian technology conference focused on bringing together people to address the critical issues for the benefit of the resource-constrained and vulnerable populations in the world. The Sixth installment of the conference was co-sponsored by IEEE USA. Many distinguished scholars and researchers from all over the world participated in the conference. They shared the latest research results, advanced research methods and many exciting new areas. It was indeed a great experience for the BRAC students. The presented paper will be published in the digital library of IEEE Xplore.
