There is no alternative to hard work and students will play the role of changemakers, said BRAC University (BRACU) Vice Chancellor Professor Syed Saad Andaleeb PhD on 30 April 2018.
Inaugurating “Freshman Orientation Program – Summer 2018” in Golf Garden in the capital, he requested guardians to allow their children to study in subjects of their preference.
He said most parents want their children to become doctors or engineers but this world would become very much boring if there were no entrepreneurs, artists, writers or media people.
Registrar Lt Col Md Foyzul Islam (Retd) congratulated students for starting this new chapter of life. He suggested remembering their core values and addressing everyone in society with dignity and respect.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Ansar Ahmed PhD presented the closing remarks. He said BRACU encourages students to be deep learners. He informed students about “BRACU Voice”, an email address for students where they can raise their voice on important issues.
The event saw the screening of video presentations giving participating freshers an overview of BRACU and its residential campus.
Representatives of several administrative departments also gave individual presentations regarding their services and a BRACU almuni reflected on her experiences in BRACU.
Department heads, faculty members and officials welcomed the students along with their parents who attended the orientation.
