Mr. Manzoor Hasan was invited to attend the second meeting of the Asia Pacific Partnership for Atrocity Prevention (APPAP) and the High Level meeting ‘Strengthening Regional Cooperation for Atrocity Prevention in the Asia Pacific’, which were held in Bangkok on 22nd & 23rd August. The Asia-Pacific Centre for the Responsibility to Protect (R2P), which is based in the University of Queensland, Australia organized the meetings together with Chulalongkorn University of Thailand. The meetings reviewed the activities of APPAP working groups and highlighted the critical need to accelerate the implementation of the R2P and to strengthen regional efforts to prevent atrocity crimes. Mr. Hasan represented the Statelessness Network for Asia and Pacific (SNAP) and the Centre for Peace and Justice of BRAC University.
