22 students have been selected for Millennium fellowship from BRAC University for the year 2022 by the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and Millennium Campus Network (MCN) Fellowship program.
The fellowship is a semester-long leadership development program to convene, challenge and celebrate student leadership to realize the UN Sustainable Development Goals and UNAI principles on campus and in communities. The UNAI works with higher education institutions and research around the globe to further the realization of United Nations goals and objectives. The MCN is a global student network addressing humanity’s greatest challenges through programs.
The Class of 2022 Millennium Fellows have been selected among a record-breaking 31,397 applicants from over 2,417 campuses across 140 nations. It includes over 3,000 Millennium Fellows on 200 campuses in 37 nations that are participating in the program this year.
The Class of 2022 is on track to engage in projects collectively advancing all 17 Sustainable Development Goals and all 10 UNAI Principles. The projects of the 22 Millennium Fellows of Class 2022 from BRAC University include:
- ensuring space for patient attendees and visitors at hospitals
- providing innovative teaching techniques and materials for underprivileged children
- offering healthcare, including eye care and mental care
- helping disadvantaged individuals reintegrate into society
- debunking gender stereotypes
- increasing women's understanding in rural Bangladesh
- empowering marginalized communities through artistic communication tools
- offering a blood bank
- sustainably using, reusing, and recycling electronic waste
- teaching basic environmental ethics
- developing eco-friendly wearables to prevent plastic pollution
- lessening marine pollution
- transforming communities through tree plantation
