BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), formerly BDI, offers an intensive 14 weeks long postgraduate certificate course on Management of Land Acquisition, Resettlement and Rehabilitation (MLARR). There are a total of twelve modules in the certificate course. This course is primarily targeted towards professionals who are working in land acquisition or wish to deepen their understanding and gain specialization in this sector.
MLARR students upon completion of the course will have in depth knowledge in areas of land management, national laws and international policies, social and environmental impact assessments and tools and techniques in effectively building and managing a resettlement plan. The students will be able to identify and minimize the risks associated with land acquisition and resettlement. They will also have the ability to identify the different approaches that are available to practitioners in establishing and ensuring equitable and sustainable livelihood restoration for project affected people.
The overall objective of the certificate course is to produce a group of highly skilled development practitioners in the specific field of land management that deals with land acquisition and resettlement actions and plans.
At the end of this course, students will be awarded “Certificate in Management of Land Acquisition and Resettlement and Rehabilitation” – the first of its kind in Bangladesh.
