Afia Zahin is a Lecturer in the School of General Education, at BRAC University in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She teaches Bangla Language and Literature in the Residential semester, Savar. She has accomplished her Graduation with a Master's degree and a Bachelor's (Hons.) from the Department of Bangla, Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. She is also a researcher. The title of her recent research is ‘Nineteenth Century Bengali Literature: The idea of sati’ concerns studying the idea of women’s chastity (satitwa) with feminist theory, this idea has developed from ancient Indian society to the 19th century and persists in modern Bengali society under the influence of colonial rule. Her research interest includes Comparative Literature, Gender and Feminist Discourses in literature, Cultural studies, and Postcolonial Studies.
