Carlos A. Reimers. PhD
Carlos Reimers is an architect and planner with a professional practice that includes the design, development, detailing and construction of residential, commercial, and corporate architecture. He is an expert on multifamily residential planning and design, affordable and low-cost housing, minimal and emergency housing, and incremental and informal housing in North America, Latin America, and Asia. Dr. Reimers has been a technical consultant on social and low-income housing for the Inter-American Development Bank and has served as senior housing adviser to many NGOs and low-income community organizations.
Dr. Reimers is a member of the Leadership Committee of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) and served also as the Inaugural Mid-Atlantic Director of the ACSA National Board (2014-2017) as well as Accreditation Team Member of the National Architectural Accreditation Board (NAAB 2015-2019). He teaches at the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design at George Washington University and the School of Architecture + Planning at Morgan State University. He has taught at the Catholic University of America, University of Texas at Arlington, Texas A&M University, and Simon Bolivar University in Caracas-Venezuela, where he was the Chair of the School of Architecture between 1997 and 2001.
Reimers holds a PhD in Architecture from Texas A&M University, a Master of Science in Urban Studies and Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master of Architecture from McGill University, and a Bachelor of Architecture Professional Degree from Simon Bolivar University.
