Mohammed Ehsanul Alam
Mohammed Ehsanul Alam is the Founder and Managing Director of A Cube Limited, an architectural firm in Dhaka. He holds a B.Arch degree from Brac University, Bangladesh in 2007.
Shortly after graduating in 2007, Ehsan joined Vistaara Architects under eminent Architect Mustapha Khalid Palash. After working for three years in Vistaara, he joined BAY Development Ltd where he worked briefly before starting his own architecture firm A Cube Limited in 2011. The name is derived from the Primary Form ‘A’ + ‘CUBE’ - a³. In his practice, the inception of design is always generated from the basic cube. The goal of Ehsan’s practice is to create local solutions in the architecture of the country while learning from global practice.
He was awarded first prize at the graphic design competition of Jatiyo Sriti Shoudho. Furthermore, he had secured multiple awards from the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) while he was a student. His notable work while practicing in A Cube Limited include Shakur Residence, which has brought him several accolades and receptions, including IAB Commendation Award 2021 (Residential category) and publication in the internationally acclaimed website, ArchDaily. He has also secured 1st prize in two National Design Competitions in Bangladesh. Design proposal from A Cube Limited secured the winning entry of ‘Head Office of National Housing Authority’ at Segunbagicha, Dhaka and ‘Multi-storied Office cum Commercial Building on “Underground Substation” of DPDC (Dhaka Power Distribution Company) at Kawranbazar, Tejgaon, Dhaka’. The DPDC project was won in a joint venture agreement with Alter Architects & Associates, owned by one of the Alumni of the Department of architecture, BracU.
