Tahseen Ali holds a doctorate in History from the University of Houston-Main Campus. His primary focus was on the history of the modern Indian subcontinent and the era of British colonial rule, from the 16th century to the departure of the ‘Raj’ in August 1947. His other area specializations include U.S. Cold War Foreign Policy from 1945 and Modern Germany since 1815.
He completed his Bachelor’s degree, with a double-major in History & Political Science (2001) and a Master of Arts in History (2004), both from the University of Houston-Main Campus.
He obtained his PhD degree in 2008.
Ali’s first book, Implacable Foes, a study of anti-British independence leader Subhas Chandra Bose, was published in April 2022.
His current research interests include; the secret British imperial surveillance of subcontinental revolutionaries and freedom fighters in the 19th and 20th centuries, women and revolution in South Asia, Justice Radhabinod Pal and the Tokyo War Crimes Tribunal and United States–Bangladesh relations since 1971.
Ali has previously taught at the University of Houston-Main Campus, Houston Community College System, Lone Star College System in Texas and East West University in Dhaka.
